We
express the Pronation Factor as one of the above or as a range.
For example, neutral to moderate over-pronation means the shoe
is balanced enough for neutral pronators, but has enough stability
features for moderate over-pronators.
Your
best bet for determining your pronation factor is to go to a
specialty running store and have them check your wear pattern
on your current shoes and watch you walk and jog from the rear.
If you don't have access to a shoe expert, check the wear pattern
on your shoes. If you tend to wear out your shoes first on the
outside, you probably tend to underpronate; if you wear out
your shoes first significantly more to the inside, look for
a shoe for over-pronators. If your looking for the best Trail
Running Shoes we highly recommend Vasque or Salomon.
The
trail shoe reviews are written by Running Times, and the Editor

Pronation
Factor: Why aren’t trail running shoes rated as far as
pronation control? While some trail shoes are better equipped
to help trail runners with motion control issues, the variable
terrain makes each step different, so the standard pronation
motion isn’t as significant. In fact, shoes with strong
medial posting can lead to foot misplacement by depriving trail
runners of the agility required for maneuvering along twisty
singletrack, especially on rock and root-riddled trails
